About Katie
Katie Cowger (she/her) is a writer and lyricist. She published her debut poetry collection, High School Was for Boys, in 2023. In 2024, she followed it with Sarah, Please Come Back, a poetry zine and ode to the time her therapist went on vacation.
She was six years old with a freshly chopped bob when she realized other people have hidden minds and secret thoughts. Spooked that she couldn’t know what people thought about her new hairdo, she became a kid going through weekly existential crises. Amidst a self-conscious freak-out, she reached for a journal and wrote:
Dear Diary, my hair is stoopid.
She’s been writing ever since.
Katie was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. She holds an Associates Degree in Creative Writing. Katie manages two snail mail clubs: The Pen Pal Club and The Vancouver Poetry Swap.
